My calling is to be with people as they experience the dance that is life; whether as a pastor, spiritual director, chaplain, life coach, or retreat and workshop leader. We are all connected, and we do not need to journey alone.

Get To Know Me

I’m an experienced spiritual director, pastor, coach and teacher based in Northern New Mexico. I grew up and spent most of my life in Florida, but have also lived in the Northeast, and Texas. I am married to Steve Ng, an artist, and am a mother and grandmother. My daughter, Jen and I have a fabric liturgical art company called Sew[i]ng Creations. I have a Masters of Divinity degree and am ordained in the United Church of Christ. I also hold several graduate certificates in spiritual direction. However, this is my second career. Earlier in my life I practiced law for 20 years, and I studied Taoism for 30 years. I also volunteer with my local volunteer fire department. I intimately know the twists and turns life can take us.

Spiritual Direction

In its purest sense, Spiritual Direction is ...

helping people to deepen their relationship with the spiritual aspect of being human. A Spiritual Director does not "direct" anyone, but instead listens and companions an individual or a group so that they can discern the direction of their lives and their connection to the divine. Spiritual Direction is not therapy or counseling. It is an ancient form of companioning people as they explore the mystery of life in light of their faith tradition or beliefs. In my practice, I incorporate a number of techniques including deep listening, work with written texts such as scripture or poetry, artistic media, nature, movement and music to help connect with the wisdom of your deepest self. I work with individuals and groups and am certified in Spiritual Direction, Group Spiritual Direction, Eco-Spiritual Direction, and in the Extended Ignatian Exercises (19th Annotation). I provide supervision to other spiritual directors.

InterPlay

InterPlay is an active, creative way to access the wisdom of the body.

InterPlay is an important part of my spiritual practice. I am a certified InterPlay leader and incorporate it into my spiritual direction, retreats, worship, and offer classes and workshops. It incorporates movement, voice and storytelling for self-exploration, community building and fun.

Everyone needs it - time to time to decompress and explore our inner selves. I offer retreats and workshop in a number of settings. Sometimes those offerings focus on one modality such as InterPlay, SoulCollege, Group Spiritual Direction, creative writing, and story sharing. Sometimes I combine them in service of a larger theme.

Life Coaching

"What you are seeking is you" - Rumi

Life Coaching is profoundly different from consulting, mentoring, advice, therapy, counseling or spiritual direction. The coaching process addresses specific personal projects, business successes, general conditions and transitions in the client's personal life, relationships or profession by examining what is going on right now, discovering what your obstacles or challenges might be, and choosing a course of action to make your life be what you want it to be.

Minister, First United Church of Christ Second Life

Second Life is the oldest and largest of the virtual worlds. First United Church of Christ Second Life is the first and only fully authorized mainline Christian church that exists only in digital space. I serve as an associate minister for this congregation of over 200, with at least 10 worship services per week, education and other events.

January 2017 - Present

Volunteer, Abiquiu Volunteer Fire Department

I am a member of the Abiquiu Volunteer Fire Department. I serve as a licensed EMT-B, certified Incident Safety Officer and Pump Operator, and I serve as Fire Chaplain for all of the volunteer departments of Rio Arriba County, New Mexico. I am a member of the Federation of Fire Chaplains.

I served for 8 years as Senior Pastor of this progressive United Church of Christ congregation in Dallas, Texas.

2006 - 2008

Associate Pastor, Coral Isles Church

I served first as Sunday School Director, then as Associate Pastor of the United Church of Christ congregation in the Florida Keys.

1988 - 2008

Appellate Attorney, Miami, Florida

Before my call to the ministry, I worked for 20 years as an appellate attorney in Florida. I worked with 2 different law firms and was a judicial law clerk at both the state and federal level. I am no longer practicing law.

Certificate in Spiritual Direction

I did my training in The Art of Spiritual Direction 2-year formation program offered by Stillpoint Center for Christian Spirituality at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico.

2006

M.Div., Florida Center for Theological Studies

I obtained my Masters in Divinity from this accredited non-demonimational Christian seminary in Miami, Florida. FCTS has since become part of St. Thomas University.

J.D., Florida State University

During my time at Florida State I was Editor-in-Chief of the law review. After receiving my J.D. I clerked for Chief Justice Raymond Ehrlich at the Florida Supreme Court and the Hon. Peter T. Fay of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit uit. I then practiced private appellate law until around 2010. I am officially retired.

B.A. with Honors in Humanities, Swarthmore College

I did my undergraduate work at Swarthmore College, a small liberal arts college in Pennsylvania. I majored in English Literature and minored in Art History.

1985 - 2018

Taoist Tai Chi Society

For more than 30 years Iwas a student of Taoist Tai Chi, through the non-profit Taoist Tai Chi Society, and have participated in the society at many levels. I am honored to have studied with Master Moy Lin Shin for several years before his death.
